It was an incredible experience from morning sunrise to stargazing…and of course the canyon in between. It’s a time for the class to connect; to work together and of course play Kubb together!

Several Southern California Waldorf schools gathered in San Clemente last week to compete in this annual celebration of 5th grade grace, skill, and determination, as a crowning conclusion to their Greek history block. This rewarding tradition gives schools a day of social interaction as well as a chance to experience a time from the cradle of Western civilization.
The community of 5th graders are mixed and sorted in to four city-states: Sparta, Corinth; Athens; and Thebes. Events include: the long jump; the javelin throw; the discus throw; wrestling; and a relay race as the students compete against their own best time.

Our annual May Faire Dia de Colores brought joy to Our annual May Faire Dia de Colores brought joy to our hearts and smiles to our faces. We opened up the festivities with a dance by our faculty. The students then danced around the Maypole weaving the ribbons into intricate designs. The older classes performed dances with a rainbow of rings, copper rods and wooden staves, as well as a djembe performance by the 7/8 grade class. Keeping with tradition, we closed the dances with a tribute and well wishes to our graduating 8th graders. Many, many thanks to Kumu Ciana, who guided our students in their dances and Mr. Patrick who taught the 7/8 graders djembe this year.
